Hi guys. We’ve been using event espresso for a while now on our current site and love it. We are switching hosting providers and using a new website over the weekend, and also upgrading to EE4 from EE3. The new website use a new .sql database. We were hoping to transfer all of our old event data to the new site. What is the best way to do that? I’ve only been able to find documentation on how to migrate to EE4 on the same server, but since we are switching to a new platform I thought it would be more complicated. |

Hi there, There is a couple of ways you can do this. If you are moving all of the data to the new site you can just copy the original database and migrate that to your new site before making your changes. If you only want the EE3 events (and relevant data) from the original site you can copy all of the tables with the ‘_events’ in their name over to your new site. The easiest way is using a plugin such as WP Migrate but it can also be done through PHPMyAdmin or similar if you prefer. Once you have that data across, activate EE3 to ensure it can find the info, then de-activate and activate EE4. You should then be given the option to migrate your event data. |

Okay just thought I’d update this thread. I am actually not sure if I’ll be able to get help but I figured it was worth a shot. I am in a strange predicament with the old data. I was given an sql file containing not just the old event data but data for the entire old site as well. Building the new site I tried to import the sql data using phpmyadmin, but there was something wrong with the file that wouldn’t let me. I went ahead and built the new site without the old data and I set up our old events as new. This works fine however there is about a week’s worth of registrant data I don’t have anymore. Presumably it is on this sql file, and I can actually see the relevant tables, but I need a way to extract them from the sql file and import them into the new database without overwriting any current data. It’s a weird spot to be in. Any advice? |

Assuming the old site and new site are still on Event Espresso 3, would it work if you exported the the _events tables from the old site and imported them onto the new site? |
