All was working well on local server, i mirgrate the site to live server, setup ee a couple of months ago, but it wasn’t live (pages were in draft until the calendar was populated).
Today i go in to populate next years events calendar and make the booking system live and it just won’t play.
Calendar displays as expected, but registration page is just showing a list of events, no details or images as programmed into the event details page. Clicking register sends me to a registration page showing the shortcode.

When I first hit this snag, i deactivated and deleted ee and the addons and all related pages, then reinstalled the latest versions, but still no dice.
I’ve been going around in circles for hours now, hopefully someone can help?

WP: 3.8
EE: 3.1.36.1.P
EE calendar: 2.0.6.3
EE recurring events: 1.1.8.p

Hi cleopatra,

It looks like the main registration page setting may not have migrated correctly. Can you try this?

1) You go in and create a new page and place [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] on it.
2) Go in to Event Espresso>General Settings and point the main registration page setting to this new page.
3) Save the settings

Hey Josh,
Thanks for tips, tried it but same result.
The registration page itself, when viewed direct, lists the events, but when I click to register or access the page by clicking an event on the calendar….sending me to url ending /?regevent_action=register&event_id=2 it just shows the shortcode.

Hi cleopatra,

Can you go to Event Espresso -> System status.

Copy and paste the Registration Page section here please.

Hello Tony, thanks for looking at this for me.

Registration Pages
Event Page #2953 – http://www.celticquestcoasteering.com/test-3/
Payment/Thank You Page #2935 – http://www.celticquestcoasteering.com/thank-you/
Transaction Notification Page #2937 – http://www.celticquestcoasteering.com/transactions/
Cancel Return Page #2936 – http://www.celticquestcoasteering.com/registration-cancelled/

I have recurring events addon installed, when its activated it totally kills the registration page (just shows the shortcode), when deactivated the registration page shows the list of events but clicking through to an event, again just the shortcode.

I’ve obviously broken it, but I can’t for life of me see how.
I’ve deleted custom templates, thinking that could be the culprit but still no dice.

No Problem πŸ™‚

So just to confirm, currently within Event Overview -> General Settings.
Page Settings. ‘Main registration page’ is currently set to the test-3 page that you recently created correct?

That page only contains [ESPRESSO_EVENTS]?

Within SEO -> Permalink.

Do you have ‘Redirect ugly URL’s to clean permalinks’ enabled?

When you say migrate the site from local to dev, how?

If you do not have an exact copy of the site locally with the same issue now I would recommend duplicating the site (Plugin) and bringing it locally, testing you have the same issue, if so perform a full troubleshoot.

Meaning disabling all plugins other than EE and testing if the page loads locally. (http://www.celticquestcoasteering.com/test-3/?ee=1)

If it does re-activate each plugin one by one and refresh the page untill it no longer loads, then report back and we can investigate.

If not, switch back to one of the default themes (2013 for example) and retest. (Unlikely to be the theme but possible)

Grrr thought you’d hit nail on head with the ugly url’s, but that wasn’t set.
Migration…setup wordpress on live site, copied across theme via ftp, installed all plugins from wp itself, installed ee by uploading .zip, imported pages & posts via a plugin.

I’ve just recreated the local version, uploaded the updated ee and addons, its working as it should, with the same settings (plugins etc). The only difference in anything is an error on system status on the live site…

Warning: is_dir() [function.is-dir]: Unable to find the wrapper “tcp” – did you forget to enable it when you configured PHP? in /var/sites/c/celticquestcoasteering.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/includes/espresso-admin-status.php on line 295
tcp://10.168.1.57:11211?persistent=1&weight=1&timeout=1&retry_interval=15 does not exist – contact your host to resolve the problem.

I’ve sent it over to my host to see if they can tweak things their end.

Thanks again for your help, if you have any inspirations please shout out πŸ™‚

It could be a server configuration difference between the local site and the live site too. You could check the .htaccess file on the live server. If there is anything other than the standard WP rewrite rules there it may be causing the breakage.

Other things you can try:

1) Try setting the WP default permalink settings temporarily.
2) Try increasing the amount of memory allocated to PHP.

Thanks Josh,
The memory is already at 96M, .htaccess is standard, i’ll give the permalink settings a go and see what happens.
Get the feeling its server side though :/

So it turns out i was being a bit of a muppet. One of my plugins was killing it, ‘plugin organizer’, thought i’d enabled the espresso plugins on all relevant pages, but it needed to be enabled globally.
The warnings and errors remain, but it appears to be working fine now. Still waiting to here back from the server boys on that one.
Now to make it look epic, populate the calendar and get folks booking for next season.

Thanks again for your helps folks πŸ™‚

Tsohost got back to me with the following:

apache_get_modules() will error as we run suPHP, but we have every module it needs I expect – mod_deflate, mod_expires and mod_deflate are all available.

All seems to be working well though, looking forward to getting it online and in use.
