Messages not being sent…

So I found that after moving to our new host messages were not being sent out by Event Espresso. This led to us troubleshooting with the hosting provider and found they were blocking access to our SMTP service. That has now been corrected, and we have fixed our WordPress mail settings as well testing the ability to send messages via that system.

However, EventEspresso still has messages stuck in the system…An error has occurred:
The messages were not sent. This could mean there is already a batch being sent on a separate request, or because the selected messages are not sendable. Please wait a minute or two and try again.

Looking for insight as to how to fix this as we have several messages queued, and selecting Send Now, or Generate and Send Now results in the same error message.

Hi Perry,

You can try removing the messages from the queue, then go to the Event Espresso > Registrations page and send the emails to the attendees using the mail actions on that page.

So I did your suggestion and it looks like it got a bit further this time, however, I can now see the error messages being generated:

Message was not executed successfully.
Messenger and Message Type were valid and active, but the messenger send method failed.
The email did not send successfully.
The WordPress wp_mail function is used for sending mails but does not give any useful information when an email fails to send.
It is possible the “to” address (perry@degy.com) or “from” address (eventregistration@degy.com) is invalid.

(Both emails are valid)

Okay…figured it out. The SMTP connection we have in PostMan is our support email address but in Event Espresso we were using an eventregistration email. Once I switched it from that event email to support, the message went through. That’s a bit of a pain since we use different email addresses for different things throughout our website.

Can you verify that your SMTP server allows eventregistration@degy.com to be used as a From address? You may need to change the from address.

I tried a few different things, but this seems to be a limitation on WordPress -> O365. I even assigned event_registration@ as a mail alias to the support mailbox and it would not work. We are going to implement MailChimp in the near future, is it possible to direct all messages to be processed through mailchimp instead of using WordPress from Event Espresso? (Haven’t read the docs yet)

I’m not sure what ‘WordPress from Event Espresso’ is? Could you clarify?

MailChimp have a transactions email service which hooks into wp_mail() and sends ALL mail sent from your site through their servers, its called Manrdill (paid service) and there is a plugin for it HERE.

Or we have some more options for these types of services here:
