Hi there,

Are you a plugin such as Loco Translate to manage translations on the site at all?

The issue will be related to the translation files in use on the site and your server using PHP8.

If your using Loco Translate I can walk through fixing this using that, if not, we’ll need to walk through file locations and check the translations.

Which would you prefer?

If you have FTP/File manager access to the server then the quickest fix is to follow the steps posted in the above thread:

https://eventespresso.com/topic/event-espresso-messages-error/#post-354439

The translation file used an be downloaded HERE.

Place that in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/

The filename should be event-espresso-4-nl_NL.mo

I would also recommend downloading the PO file and placing it in the same location, you can download that HERE.

The filename for that file should be event-espresso-4-nl_NL.po

If you are unsure on any of the above the above I can set this up for you if preferred, just send temp login details over using this form:

Hi tony,

I replaced the files. The problem is still there.
other files in there are:

ee-js.pot.php
event_espresso-nl_NL.l10n.php
event_espresso-translations.js.php
event_espresso.pot

should i replace any others?

Are you sure your in the right location?

Whats the path for the files?

I’m asking because the above files should not be in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/

Those would be in /wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/languages/, which is not where you need to be working.

i did work in the wrong folder and replaced them there. but the file is exactly the same size etc. is it okey to just leave it as it is now?

If you previously had files within /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/ and replaced those with the new ones I linked above, the files you replaced would be custom translations so any of the strings were customized those will be back to the originals.

but the file is exactly the same size etc. is it okey to just leave it as it is now?

Yes, its fine to leave it as is, the translations in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/ will load in place of the default translations we use, but those are essentially the same so it will be fine.

You’re most welcome 🙂

Now that its working without errors you may want to look into using Loco Translate it helps manage translation files easier and editing them can be done directly within the dashboard.

The next version of Event Espresso will also automatically set up the Loco Translate ‘bundle’ for Event Espresso.
