In other words,
Is there a way to limit to a single registration per person per event?

I set a member only event and noticed i can register to the same event again and again with the same username /:

I believe its a bug 🙂 unless theres a reason to allow someone to register twice and more to the same event?

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature. In case someone wants to come back and buy another ticket for a friend, family member, etc.

Hi there Sidney,

I can see how this can be seen as a feature in some situations, but in my case (and apparently I’m not alone in this) I would like to restrict entry to 1 ticket per registered user (whilst multiple sign-ups / registration should still work!).

How would I go about doing this? I am using EE in combination with BuddyPress and have the members addon at my disposal.

If possible, I’d like to implement a function that is called before the event registration page (or on it, as long as users don’t have the option to register again) that checks for pending/paid signups.

@jonas & Keren
This is not possible currently, but may be something we can work on implementing into the WP User Integration add-on in the future.

The problem is that someone can sign up to the same event with the EXACT same information again and again. This is a BUG, no matter what you tell yourself. a person cannot attend the same event more than once in a given time. This is a physical restriction! we just cant be in the same place twice in the same time!

Maybe i am special, but all of my users are idiots. If they are given the option to signup with the same exact info again and again they will all do it.

The least would be to show the user which registrations he has already made on the registration page. and you could at leasttttttt check if the same info is already on the database..

I have posted yet on this subject, so I won’t do it once more, just add some comment about the answer from Sydney :
You call it bug or feature, this does not change nothing. It is completely contradictory with all the Event Espresso system. You have implemented different prices for member and non member and site managers have to pay for this WP user integration. This module is advertised with the possibility to offer a special price for a member. And I discover that a member can register 10 or 20 times if he wants to give tickets at a rebate rate to non members !
There is also a feature in EE to allow one person to buy several tickets (with a maximum of n tickets). What is the use of this if the only way to manage an event is to allow anybody to buy as many tickets he wants to ?

Obviously, it is not possible to limit the number of purchases from an unknown visitor. But if an event manager buy the WP User Integration obviously, it is a basic thing to have !

Thank you Keren and Joel for your feedback. Unfortunately this is a hard limitation of the code at this time, something we will definitely be looking at in the future but we do not have the capacity to take on at this time.

Clearly, there is code to modify. I do not understand if “hard limitation” refers to the place of where the code is or to the difficulty. But I am feeling that it should not be a big deal.

To do it, I suppose that this can be verified and coded in wp-content/uploads/espresso/template/event_list_display.php
But the right way to do it is to add a parameter in the event to choose multiple or single registration for one member and obviously have it linked with WP user integration and this I cannot do.
