If you could please review the past string to see if the latest version limits registration and provides a message. The last few times I downloaded the patch, although it created other problems with the payment reminders and I had to deactivate that version.

We’re actually testing the BUG-8698-ticket-sellouts now because that branch has some related work from another branch merged in.

Thank you for your reply and I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. So does this mean I should download this new branch?

You can download and test that branch if you’d like to.

I tried uploading this new branch and got the following:

Installing Plugin from uploaded file: event-espresso-core-BUG-8698-ticket-sellouts (1).zip
Unpacking the package…

Installing the plugin…

Destination folder already exists. **Removed**/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-BUG-8698-ticket-sellouts/

Plugin install failed.

Any suggestions?

You will need to remove the old EE plugin before uploading the newer plugin.

so I deactivated the old EE and tried it again and got the same message.

never mind, once I completely deleted the older branch I had, it worked.

The error message means you are trying to install a plugin that is already installed (the ‘folder’ for the plugin already exists), in this case it means you are trying to install a branch of EE that you already have installed.

This line:

Destination folder already exists. /wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-BUG-8698-ticket-sellouts/

Means you have already previously installed EE using the above branch.

De-activating the plugin still leaves it installed on your site, so the folder still exists and WordPress will not overwrite it.

You need to delete the previous version, then download and install the above branch.
