Hello. I had to increase the max_input_var setting to 5000 from 1000. I’m told it’s not recommended to do this in the future. I’m new to working with EE and this site and am wondering what the best practice is in terms of entering datetimes / tickets and if it’s expected they’ll be archived or deleted in the future. The owner of the site wants to keep the events on the calendar for historical purposes. Can you offer a little guidance about how this might work? If events can’t remain in the calendar, can they be archived or can a report be generated? Or will events just have to be deleted?

Thank you for your time in answering these questions. I appreciate it.

Hi Patrik,

Raising the value for max_input_var may be needed when a lot of ticket and/or datetime options are in use (e.g. 20+).

It would be better to split these tickets and/or datetimes across multiple events.

Event Espresso will not delete any events automatically so you could show those prior events on the events calendar by adding the expired parameter.
