For some unknown reason Event Espresso sent out in the region of 200 Registration Approved messages to registrants for events that are in the past and expired. We are now getting lots of queries asking why these have been sent out. What could have caused this? They were all sent out yesterday within the space of an hour.
Were you running updates on the site at all? Be it plugin, theme or WordPress updates.
Do you use a transactional email plugin at all? Sendgrid, Postmark, Mandrill etc?
Do you have a recent database backup of the site from before this happened?
