Many issues after reactivate / reinstall plugin

I was having a lot of issues with my original event espresso so I decided to reinstall.

After reinstall, I’m stuck on these things:

1) This message won’t go away no matter what I do to update settings: Event Espresso must be configured. Go to the Organization Settings page to configure the plugin “Page Settings.”

2) I’m not getting an admin email confirming registration from customers. I did a dummy and as a customer, I do receive the confirmation email

3) I actually switched back to the free version because once I activate the paid version, the paypal amount changes (e.g. it’s supposed to be $33.90 but turns into $42.90 – discount $9.00 = $33.90 so it’s really strange.

Can someone please advise on these fixes?

Hi Samantha, Firstly can you clarify what version of Event Espresso you are running. If it is not the latest or 3.1.28.5 at the least then I would strongly advise you to update EE (and WordPress if applicable) to the latest version.

1) This is due to licence issues we have been having, you can read the full details here, though in the meantime I have reset your licence key EDIT your licence key does not seem to have been added to your website as yet, you can add this in the Event Espresso > General Settings.

2) If you are having email issues we recommend using a third party plugin or service such as WP STMP Mail or Postmark.

3) This has been resolved in the latest version of EE

Hi Dean,

Thanks for the response

1) I recreated the Thank you etc pages and fixed this problem

I’m actually loading the free version at the moment because I can’t put the key in!

No matter what I try, the key doesn’t save and the “There is an automatic update for Event Espresso available but your Site License Key has not been set. Please go to the Event Espresso General Settings page to set your Site License Key. You can locate your license key from your account on the Event Espresso website.” is still on top.

2) I tried using WP STMP Mail which made things worse. Even the customer email didn’t send. I also tried deactivating other plugins with no success (I searched thru all the forums already!)

3) I downloaded the latest version of EE (just yesterday) but the problem is still there. I’m using the free version but I really want to switch the version I paid for!

Thanks & look forward to the response!

Hi Samantha,

Glad you got #1 sorted.

Re #2 – the emails do work, the issues we find that cause the emails to fail is generally down to the server set up as we use the wp_mail() function that is built into WordPress, which is why we recommend the two services. We have noticed a lot of our customers emails work much better using the Postmark app (we event have a specifically coded add on in the PreRelease section https://eventespresso.com/support/documentation/pre-release-downloads/ to make it easier to integrate with EE.

Re #3 – updating to 3.1.29 should resolve that, though it may be best to wait a day or so as some unexpected bugs have appeared in that version which we are trying to resolve.

PS we are not affiliated with Postmark, we just see it as a useful application due to the number of issues with wp_mail()

3 is resolved with the update! One thing, in the admin, when you choose a registration date, the calendar background is transparent so it’s hard to see. Please help find a fix =)

2 I tried postmark and i got an error! it didn’t send the admin email still.

one thing to add –
i have two sql db’s for the site. when i link to the old db, the emails do send so i think the issue is somewhere in the sql

Hi Samantha,

Try clearing your cache for the date picker issue, the new version has a shiny new scheme to it so it may just be that your browser has the old one which isnt there any more cached.

The kpses() error was one that slipped past us, but is harmless in intent, it should be resolved in the hotfix patch that just came out 3.1.29.1.

The email however should have no bearing on the sql aspect. Do both databases use the same email address for the admin?

I do have the same email address. Postmark didn’t help and I even just tried changing the email address to see if it’s a spam filter thing.

Any other suggestions?

If it’s something in the settings, is there a table in sql that I should be targeting in finding the differences?

I figured out what’s wrong after checking the sql! There’s a separate section for email address in the plugin that wasn’t entered.

Thanks for all the help!
