Many classes in one event problem

Hi

I’m sure this has come up before but haven’t found a thread that deals with my question yet. I am setting up a series of life drawing courses that comprise of 12 classes each, and would like to offer the option to

  1. book an entire 12 week course
  2. book individual classes within a course if they can’t afford the whole course

From my playing around to date it’s clear that I can set up the individual classes easily with recurring events.
The problem I’m having is how to group these individual events into a course that people can pick as a single option.

I can set up a seperate event which offers the entire course as a single (non-recurring) option but that would make it difficult to track numbers of people attending (since they’d have to be different events) and also makes the calendar a bit useless as it makes it look as if a life drawing class on a Monday, say, lasts 3 months!)

I really like everything about your set of plug-ins and hope that I’ve missed some easy way to cater for this issue as I imagine it’s a pretty common requirement.Hope you can help.

Hi John,

This can be accomplished with the Multi Event Registration add-on. If you install that add-on, you can add a shortcode like this to any page or any event’s description that will add a link to add all the events you specify in the cart at one time:

[ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-12″ anchor=”Register for the entire series”]

In the above example, the event ID’s of 1-12 get added to the cart when this link gets clicked. I will say that it’s not the ideal solution since it makes it more difficult to sign up for a bunch of events like that. It’s one of the things we are looking to improve on in future versions of Event Espresso.

Thanks for this. I will give it a whirl later today. For the moment I’m stuck on a strange issue that I just raised in another post. MER and the Dissappearing buttons If you have time to read it that would be great.
I’ll let you know how I get on with this.

So I’ve been trying to make the shortcode you sent work with my classes and it only ever seems to add one class (i.e. not the whole list) or none. I assume this is a syntax mistake I’m making but I can’t see it. Perhaps you can. Here are some event ID’s I pulled from the Event Overview

I copied the event_id strings and strung them together as per your example. However as you can see my ids are full of hyphens (these are automagically generated by event espresso) so stringing them together as you did with the single digits seems problematic. And more importantly didn’t work.

Here’s a short example of two of them strung together as per your example:

[ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”monday-life-drawing-1-50e82dd22ce5a-monday-life-drawing-1-50e82dd22af1b” anchor=”Register for Course”]

So I tried various things like stripping all hyphens and using just the number in the ids (so that the hyphens marked a break between id’s) but nothing worked.
Perhaps the ID’s I’m pulling from the events are the wrong ID’s? Or maybe there’s something strange about the id’s that event esspresso has generated? .
Anyway could you clarify how I can make this work.
