I am starting a new website. It was working fine. I downloaded the free version of event expresso decaf. I was able to access it. I pondered a day or two and decided to de-activate it and delete it and purchase the full version. My web host says my site is infected with malware in all of my files. that is the only thing I have done as this is a new site. Now all of my websites that share the server have been taken offline as well.
I don’t have any further information as they are investigating it and will advise me.
Malware is designed to self-propagate through your site by infecting other files so, malware may have been present elsewhere and injected code into various files within your plugins directory.
I have finally navigated the cleaning up of the account. The web host said they cannot figure out where it came from. I’m glad it wasn’t Event Expresso because I really love your product! Sorry for any undue concern, but that was the last thing I had done. Must have been something “lurking” in the site waiting for the right time to attack. Thanks.
We are glad you got that working now. There won’t be any malware in our plugins as it’s already gone through multiple tests before release.
For future reference, you can use any security like Wordfence to avoid malware.
Please feel free to ask if you have any other questions.
