Make one event conditional on another

I have several events, some of which may only be purchased if another event has also been purchased: eg an ‘Accompanying Person’ registration that can only be booked if the corresponding ‘Full Registration’ has been booked. Can this be done? I’m using EE3 on a conference booking site that was done a year ago, but is only now about to go live… and everything’s going wrong!
