The webpage http://calvaryonline.ca/event-registration/?regevent_action=register&event_id=9 is very slow and buggy in IE and most of the time times out. Also, when one clicks to register at the bottom, it redirects them to the page with all the events instead of the MER page for the Camp, somehow we never end up getting to a registration page in IE. This works fine in Chrome and Firefox, what are we missing here for IE?

Hi Barbara,

With the speed issue, it’s partially due to the 30+ different JavaScript files loading on the page, and there’s about two dozen or so separate stylesheets. What happens is the browser essentially loads these up one at a time. This will affect the speed of the site on any browser, but it might be more noticeable with IE since it’s typically slower than the Webkit browsers.

There’s a plugin that does a pretty good job at compressing those down and combining them into one or two files as long as your WP theme and plugins are properly including their scripts and styles. It’s called Better WP minify and you could try installing and setting it up. If there are plugins that you’re not really using they could also be deactivated too.

With the IE issue where it’s not directing to the cart page, I checked this in IE and sure enough something is broken. It may be the WordPress theme that’s involved or another WP plugin. I’ve got the twentythirteen theme set up on a test site and I tested it out in IE and it’s working as expected.

Can you try temporarily switching to the twentytwelve theme and check to see if that makes a difference. You can actually change the theme for the admin account only with the theme test drive plugin. This will help narrow down what’s causing the issue.
