I am getting an error when I enter in our API key. The server and the site are running SSL, we are confused. Checked the firewall, and there are no blocks to mailchimps IP’s for their API.

I saw a canned answer in the other forum questions and thought I would see if anyone knew what exactly was going on. Here is the exact error:

An error occurred while attempting to connect to the MailChimp server. Error: Could not connect (ERR 0: Unable to find the socket transport “ssl” – did you forget to enable it when you configured PHP?)

Hi,

Well I have not seen that error before myself. Doing some research on it, it could well be server related. Are you running an IIS (windows) server?

Hey Dean,

We are running Linux, Centos, Cpanel servers. We installed the WP Mail Chimp plugin and connect fine to the api at mail chimp. So I did some more testing and disabled all plugins except Event Espresso and only used a theme that you all suggested from Elegant Theme.  Still the same error.

I might clarify, I disabled all other plugins except those provided by event espresso.

Hi Team Billing,

Can you check in the server’s php.ini and verify that the line:

extension=php_openssl.dll

is not commented out?
