The API key keeps being randomly deleted after being saved. Using v 1.1 of the MailChimp Integration plugin.

Hi there,

That sounds like an old bug that we fixed. Can you go to the Plugins area of your WordPress installation and check again which version you have installed?

We definitely have Version 1.1 – it seems to be happening fairly regularly now.

Hi,

So, after you save the key, it just disappears? You say this is occurring randomly, so if the key saves and does not disappear, is there a reason to then go back in and change the key or is it disappearing later on?

Sorry if the questions are confused, I’m trying to get a grasp of the process of what is happening as I cannot recreate this issue by saving the key.

Hello,

The key does not immediately disappear. It appears saved and works for a while – a few days or so, then we’ll notice names aren’t being added to the mailing list and will check and the key will be gone.

Hi,

How many people have access to the mailchimp settings? Could it be possible someone is removing the key?

Do you know if anyone is de-activating and reactivating the mail chimp add on around the time the key goes missing?

Have there been any updates or site changes around the time the key goes missing?

The key should be being saved to the database, is it possible to get FTP access to your site to check one of the files to make sure everything is in order?

If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

NOTE: login details need to be Admin level and FTP details are appreciated.

No one is deleting the key, only a few employees have access to the WordPress admin. The plugin is also not being deactivated. I just checked now and the API key is gone again. I’ve sent the login info.

I emailed you regarding the login details.

Hi,

Thanks for the update on login details.

I have taken a look, but honestly I cannot see anything obvious.

As such I would suggest this is a conflict with another plugin.

My general recommendation would be to update everything so you are on a level playing field, and if the update alone doesn’t resolve the issue, you will need to deactivate plugins to test. As the issue is seemingly random, this may take some time. I would concentrate on any custom plugins to do with Event Espresso and anything else that affects Mailchimp (The Gravity Forms plugin maybe).

As mentioned, there is nothing obvious so it will be trial and error to find the root cause of the issue.
