Mailchimp add-on not showing groups

Hi,

I have just downloaded v2.4.5 of the Mailchimp add-on and uploaded it to essatest domain. This domain has the beta version of Event Espresso. Also uploaded to live domain running v4.10.29.p, and the behaviour is the same.

I’ve added their API key. The MailChimp List metabox on the event page shows only “Do not send to MailChimp” and “ESSA Master List”.

However, I have created two groups in their Mailchimp account:
https://www.pastefile.com/kwg4yk

Both are visible and are imaginatively named.

ESSA Master List already has over 800 contacts and we don’t want to mess with that list so thought that adding a group would allow us to separate the customers who have bought events using EE.

I always struggle with Mailchimp so very possible I’ve not set something up correctly. Can you help me identify what I’ve done wrong?

Best wishes,

Anita

Hi Anita,

Groups are assigned to lists, so where you have this:

I’ve added their API key. The MailChimp List metabox on the event page shows only “Do not send to MailChimp” and “ESSA Master List”.

You need to select the list where the groups are set for them to display, so in this example I assume you select ESSA Master List. The groups for that selected list would then show.

You can test that but just don’t hit the save button on the event as it sounds like you don’t want to use that list, is that correct?

How are you planning to update the contacts within the Mailchimp account when they register?

Hi Tony,

Thank you. I wasn’t selecting the list. I can see that the groups appear when I do this on the live site, but not on the test site that is using the beta version.

Correct, we want to separate Mailchimp contacts that are event customers from the existing ESSA Master List so that we can contact them without affecting current contacts on that list. (We’re not sure what that is used for.)

We were hoping to play about with the test site first and find out what is possible before impacting the live site. Another reason to keep the contacts in their own group within the Master List.

Best wishes,

Anita

Hi Anita!

Thanks for getting back to us.
Basically, the groups are not displayed on the test website. Is that right? Please, can you provide us access to your WordPress Dashboard through this link? https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

Cheers,

Hi Joao,

That is correct. I have submitted login details along with the HideMySite password you’ll be asked for.

Best wishes,

Anita

Thank you, Anita.

I didn’t want to make any changes on the test site so whilst I can see the issue, I don’t currently know what is causing it on the site itself but I’ll add some details.

The name and ID of the List dropdown used by the MailChimp add-on have been changed so the JS used to target those elements no longer finds the.

This is from your test site: https://monosnap.com/file/uMi4PulyJZyAKZ83zwtj43eDUQviFi

(That’s the dropdown element itself)

Then on my sites: https://monosnap.com/file/i9XY7UUbXvgoYVU1Z4A6FoPxTAofRJ

Do you have any custom code targeting that specific field?

Hi Tony,
I see the difference, and no I don’t believe I have added any custom code for this field.
All I did, from memory, was download the extension from your site, then installed, activated and configured that file onto the test site and then onto the live site.
Feel free to make changes to the test site if you need to. That’s why we have it.
Best wishes,
Anita

Hi Tony,

Today I downloaded the plugins from the test site and have done some searches for the ids of the fields that you put in the screenshots.

I found the start of both in EE_MC_Lists_Form (file EE_MC_Lists_Form.form.php) but that’s as far as I can get without spending a lot more time.

Hopefully your PHP is better than mine; plus you know the code base far better than me.

Best wishes

Anita

Hi Anita,

I can’t reproduce this, but the ID/class/name using the actually Class name is niggling at me as something I’ve seen before.

Are you using the PR version downloaded from the site or have you been sent a custom version of the latest beta?

I’m wondering if this is an issue specifically with the version of Beta you are using, would you like to test out the latest version? I can get a version packaged up for you to test and see if you get the same issue if so.

Hi Tony,

I am using the version downloaded from the site.

I’d be happy to try the latest version.

If you’re emailing it please send to registrations@codingforsail.uk

The email address associated with the account belongs to the client, who might be a bit confused.

Otherwise I can download from wherever you tell me it is.

Thanks,

Anita
