Link Paypal transaction to EE Registration?

We use Paypal Standard Gateway, and often have trouble to match up the records in Paypal with EE records. The only clue is the person’s name or email address, but people often pay with a different card/name.
Is there a way to send a reference number to Paypal, or return some Paypal tracking number back to EE? Or any other way to link the two for better tracking . Thanks.

Hi Emily,

When the user makes a payment within PayPal EE should store the ‘TXN ID’ from PayPal within the payment – http://take.ms/LmNAd
(Ignore the status of the payment)

You can then search for that ID within PayPal to find the specific payment made.
