I’m setting up EE4 for a hiking guide site. Her trips include single and double occupancy (single and couples) registrations with a discount for double occupancy prices. For obvious reasons her trips have a max limit of 14 people. How do I limit the total number of registrations to 14 people with a total combination of singles and doubles? We cant have it oversell.

Hi Monika,
You could set the limit on the datetime itself which appears above the ticket selector:
http://cl.ly/image/232F2N283g2y
This is because a datetime can have multiple types of tickets linked to it such as a standard ticket or a VIP ticket.
That would allow any combination of your current ticket (pricing) options to be sold and once the quantity is reached for the datetime, then no more registrations (sales) would be allowed for this event.

I did this. This 14 total ticket limit would include the deposit taken for the trip for people who cant pay the whole thing at once. Im not sure that this will work. EE only understands a Double Occupancy registration as a single ticket, when it counts for 2 spaces. the trip can have any combo of singles or doubles as long they add up to 14. Any suggestions?

This sounds like a good use for Ticket Bundles: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/create-ticket-bundle/
That way they can have two types of tickets: Single occupancy and double occupancy. The quantity will work as expected.
