Library Client – Pre-Sales Question

We have a potential client looking for a means to register for events. They do not have the need to sell tickets. What is important to them is the ability to take email address, names, number of individuals and have a waiting list to determine if they will open the event up to additional individuals once they see the numbers for the events or use it as a traditional waiting list. The calendar grid appearing on their site links to Engaged Patrons for their event managing. http://engagedpatrons.org/Events.cfm?SiteID=2 (this is a demo, they actually have show an event listing vs calendar grid when entering Engaged Patrons). I noticed that Engaged Patrons uses email address/password to add to event lists for each individual’s profile. They can send the event via email, add to profile calendar, or add to individual event list by profile.

The other functionality they were looking for is styling the calendar based upon category. Is this possible either by the plugin itself or via css (if they are unique ID/classes to attach style(s) to.

They also want to be able to add event to their own calendar such as Google Calendar.

Hi, the following features are available in Event Espresso 3:

Wait list events
Bulk notifications – email attendees to notify them that they can now register
Highlight events in a specific category on the events calendar with a specific color
iCal export – import into Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Calendar app (Mac)

These features are not available:

They can send the event via email, add to profile calendar, or add to individual event list by profile.

Does the features such as wait listing, highlighting by category and iCal export come in the $69 version of the product? The client is on a limited budget being a non-profit.

Hi, looking at the pricing, I think you are referring to Event Espresso 4.

Event Espresso 4 does not have a waitlist feature at this time.

The events calendar add-on would be needed for the iCal functionality and highlighting events by color on the calendar. This is because the core plugin does not include a calendar as the plugin size would be too big to include both in a single file.

If you haven’t already done so, then I encourage you to apply for a non-profit discount here:

Hi,

For v4 of the product which of these features are a part of base product?

Different Styling By Calendar Category
Event Registration
Navigate Between Calendar Categories
Recurring Events
Search Calendar Events
Waiting List (I believe you said this was not in v4)

If we are looking for the features above, which pricing package would I be suggesting to the client and are any add-on plugins involved?

Thanks again for your help.

Hi, the base product is Event Espresso 4.

Some of those features that you are asking about are related to the calendar so you would need the calendar add-on.

You could go with the Event Espresso core plugin + the Events Calendar add-on.

That combination will take care of these project requirements.

Different Styling By Calendar Category
Event Registration
Navigate Between Calendar Categories

Regarding searching calendar events — the events calendar is a different way to display events in Event Espresso to your attendees and registrants. Since these are already in Event Espresso, then they’ll be available for search if your site has a search feature (e.g. existing search option for WordPress pages and posts or a custom search engine via Google).

Waitlists are not available in Event Espresso. Recurring events are not available — however, you can duplicate existing events to create similar events.

Thanks!

Lorenzo
