Last year, I submitted a support request to find out if EE planned to add a feature where registrants could set their own price for a donation associated with an event: https://eventespresso.com/topic/name-your-own-price-for-events-and-tickets/.
The reason I asked is because we would like to have the ability to have a donation field along with the ticket prices. Right now, we set a donation amount in the ticket area and then registrants can choose the quantity, but that’s cumbersome. We would like to have a field called donation that would allows the registrant to input a dollar amount. Today, we noticed that there’s a choice in the custom field portion of an event called Attribute_Free-Will-Offering, but in testing it by leaving the value amount blank, we see that it doesn’t show up on the event preview. Is there a way to create an event field that allows people to enter a donation amount whether or not they purchase a ticket?

there are also some plugin that allows you to donate, such buy me a coffee plugin, paypal etc.

Yes, I saw the article at the link. That’s what we currently do, but it’s clunky because people have to choose a quantity for the donation amount. I think adding an extra donation feature that allows people to type in an amount would be great and matches what many donor databases do with their event forms.
