I updated EE two weeks ago, but the upgrade failed and I had to deactivate. Now every time I try to activate, I get this error:
Warning: require_once(/var/www/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/core/bootstrap_espresso.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/espresso.php on line 119
Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/var/www/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/core/bootstrap_espresso.php’ (include_path=’.:/opt/remi/php73/root/usr/share/pear:/opt/remi/php73/root/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php’) in /var/www/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/espresso.php on line 119
Here’s the details:
EE version 4.10.12
Wordpress version 5.7.2
Custom theme (which I didn’t create)
Failed updates often end up with missing files which then cause random errors and that’s what appears to be the issue here. I can’t say for sure but the quickest and easiest way to test is to reinstall the plugin and see if that fixes it.
With the version of WordPress you are using you don’t even need to uninstall the previous version first.
If you don’t, stop as there is something else going on and we’ll need to investigate further.
If you replaced the above, try activating the plugin again, does it now work?
