I’ve already used the PO/MO files to translate as well as customized buttons and also used the Quick Localization plugin.

There are still some messages I cannot change and I’m spending so much time to look for them that I’d like to translate the php files directly.

One example, on the checkout page I need to translate this message:

1) In order to process your registration, we ask you to provide the following information.
Please note that all fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

2) Most of the information/messages on the: ESPRESSO_CHECKOUT and ESPRESSO_THANK_YOU pages.

3) All the messages displayed when you press a button, the gear appears and messages pop-up.

SOS please. I’ve spent the last week looking for theses messages and it’s frankly time consuming.

Thanks in advance.

Rob

Also, as a last comment, I’ve set up my country as Spain, but in my Venue options I only get US/Canada states and Country=US/Canada. Since I don’t chose any of those, when I print my receipts or tickets the Venue shows up as: Madrid/Unknown/Unknown.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

While, I can understand that you need to meet a deadline, editing the core directly will cause all of your customizations to be lost.

Please see the following guide for how to translate Event Espresso 4:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-translate-event-espresso/

I just checked the example that you shared for Spanish (Spain) and it has been translated:

http://cl.ly/image/1f3Y2i2q3210

Also, we do appreciate you searching for something on your own but if you can’t find it after a couple searches, then please create a support post here in our support forums so we can help you.

For your country, it may not be set to appear in the dropdown menus. You can go to Event Espresso –> General Settings –> Countries.

Select Canada and then look in the left menu below the main dropdown for an option for showing the country in the dropdown menus. Set that to no and save changes.

Then repeat this process for United States.

From here, select Spain and then set that option to Yes and save changes.

Hi Lorenzo, the country has been changed according to your indications. Thanks.

Concerning the translation I’m still having trouble and it’s down to just a few things.

1) Regarding the string you mentioned, I’ve changed it with POedit and compiled and uploaded but it’s still the same.

2) There’s a message that’s much more annoying and that I have to change: This ticket type does not require any information for additional attendees, so attendee #1’s information will be used for its registration purposes.

Can you please let me know what I can do?

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

Could you confirm that you are using the PO file from our GlotPress project?

The string that you mentioned that is missing is there:

Could you reply with the translation? I’ll update it and provide you with a MO file that you can upload to your site.

Thanks

Thank you!

Hi Robert, thanks for sharing that translation. I’ve added it to GlotPress under Spanish (Spain).

Click this link to get an updated MO file:

http://translate.eventespresso.com/projects/event-espresso-4/es/event-espresso-es_ES/export-translations?format=mo

Then change the name of the file to event_espresso-es_ES.mo.

The file should then be uploaded here using your preferred SFTP or FTP client (e.g. FileZilla, Cyberduck):

/wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages

Event Espresso will start using the language file right away.

If there are any other language strings that you are having trouble locating, then please do let us know.

Thanks

Thank you Lorenzo but that file is only 50k and my current one has 298k so when I replace it, it wipes out all my former translations.

Furthermore the first string in the checkout page is still not working (I had already translated it using POedit before contacting you).

Can you please give me the name of the templates where those messages are stored so I can change them for my upcoming event? it’s really urgent.

Thank you,

Rob

Hi Rob,

I setup a gettext filter for this which I checked with the latest release:

function ee_messaging_changes_registration_checkout( $translated, $original, $domain ) {

    $strings = array(
        'In order to process your registration, we ask you to provide the following information.%1$sPlease note that all fields marked with an asterisk (%2$s) are required.' => 'Para poder realizar su registro es necesario proporcionar la siguiente información.%1$sLos campos marcados con un asterisco (%2$s) son campos obligatorios.',
        'This ticket type does not require any information for additional attendees, so attendee #1\'s information will be used for its registration purposes.' => 'Este tipo de entrada no requiere de información adicional.',
    );

    if ( isset( $strings[$original] ) ) {

        $translations = get_translations_for_domain( $domain );
        $translated = $translations->translate( $strings[$original] );
    }

    return $translated;
}

add_filter( 'gettext', 'ee_messaging_changes_registration_checkout', 10, 3 );

Copy that into your child theme’s functions.php file or a site specific plugin.

Would you be interested in contributing your translations to our GlotPress project? If so, could you email us a copy of your PO file to the following email address and we’ll follow up:

Hi Robert, those phrases are already in our GlotPress:

http://cl.ly/image/2O1r3S3a0P0w

http://cl.ly/image/0v2a1f0u0i1D

Here is what I recommend.

Get a copy of the PO file from GlotPress:

http://translate.eventespresso.com/projects/event-espresso-4/es/event-espresso-es_ES/export-translations?format=po

Then use the merge feature in POEdit to merge the files together.

If you would like to contribute your existing translations, then we can perform the merge on our end and then provide you with an MO file that is ready to go.

Hi Robert, were you able to get these translations working?

Thanks

Hi Lorenzo, unfortunately not. I look up those strings with POedit and they just don’t appear…

I’ll be glad to send you my PO file which has many translated strings. How can I send them to you? If you can merge with yours I’d love to see if it works, I’m really desperate right now.

Thanks,

Rob
