Language file – update issue

I have just updated EE and I have the following message: “Something went wrong while trying to download the current language file for Event Espresso. It looks like event-espresso was unable to move the file into the correct directory (possible permissions errors)”

My French language files .po/.mo are currently situated in the uploads/espresso/language files (so that I can alter them without being overriden with every update). Is this the reason for the above message?

No, it’s just trying to pull in the language files and failing, which happens if there are language files already. It is not a serious issue, your amended translation files will not be affected.
