The event espresso on the Marjoreibrookseminars.com site keeps changing the event times on all of the events listed.

I enter in the start and end times and hit update and it changes them to random times immediately. Look at tany of the events on the site – they either start at 9am and end a6p or there are half days that start at 5:30p – none of them say that they are all random times.

Hi there,

So in the admin when you edit the event, is the date/time correct there? But when listed on the front end all the dates are incorrect?

If the above is correct then its likely that either another plugin (or the theme) is calling date default_timezone_set() to change the server’s timezone (which is discouraged within WordPress) or you using an older version of EE3 that doesn’t have the latest fixes for WP5.4+ changes.

Your site is running EE3, but it looks like someone has changed the version number internally to be EE4.10.0 so I don’t know the ‘real’ version of EE3 you are using. Did you previously work with a developer to make changes to EE3?

Yes, I in fact need to upgrade from EE3 to EE4. Is there a way to make the settings and events auto update to new version of EE? Also, I’m seeing this https://www.screencast.com/t/APDp7QMSSy so please clarify and if everything will be moved over smoothly to EE4 or if things will break.

Is there a way to make the settings and events auto update to new version of EE?

Normally, that will happen when EE4 is first activated, it will give you the option to migrate your EE3 database to EE4.

However, it isn’t expected for someone to hack up EE3 to make it look like EE4 and I’m not really sure what benefit that gave at the time, but it may prevent the migration script from running initially.

Also, I’m seeing this https://www.screencast.com/t/APDp7QMSSy so please clarify and if everything will be moved over smoothly to EE4 or if things will break.

Generally, most of your data transfers over just fine (not everything from EE3 applies in EE4) but any customizations made to EE3 will not apply to EE4. EE4 works very differently to EE3, custom code for it simply won’t work with EE4 and as the output is based much more heavily on your site’s theme it can look very different.

I can’t give you an answer on whether or not things will break during the migration as I don’t have any background info on your site and can already see that some unexpected changes have been made (changing EE3’s version to look like EE4 is not expected). So the best thing you can do here is to create a development copy of the site (clone your current live site), test upgrading to EE4 there and see what applies and if everything works as expected before looking at make any changes on the live site.

Thanks for the information, but please clarify if there is a way to automatically transfer or all the events that we have on EE3 are still showing on the updated version as we tried to update it yesterday all the events that we have from old version are not showing also the shortcode is not working on all pages when we use EE4

Yes, ordinarily EE4 can migrate data over from EE3.

That happens when you first activate EE4, it will detect that the latest version used was EE3 (which in your case it may not be able to) and then check for EE3 tables in the database. If it finds that EE3 was the previous version and finds the tables above, it shows an option for migration.

Was yesterday the first time you’ve activated EE4 on the site?

Did you create a development copy of the site to test this on?
