Just updated today: this registration could not be completed. please refresh the

I just updated an instance of EE yesterday on a client site, and today we get this:

this registration could not be completed. please refresh the page and try again

Looking through old help tickets, this appeared in 2014, 2015 and 2017 and seemed to be related to updates to EE. It’s resurfaced again, apparently!

Hi,

This isn’t actually related to an update of Event Espresso, but folks do tend to notice issues like this one after an update. The “this registration could not be completed. please refresh the page and try again” is a generic error message that’s related to a problem with the AJAX request when the registration form is submitted.

Can you check the site’s PHP error log for a fatal error at the time the registration form was submitted? If you do not have access to that error log, you can set up WordPress to log errors by following this guide:

Once we have that error message we can move forward with a solution.
