I have solved the Groupon upload to PHP. I have also created a simple template for people to simply add the Groupon codes to.

Where can I send the template to?

Cheers

Andy

Hey folks – I have 100s of codes i would like to import. I have looked at the video Uploading Groupon Codes in bulk using phpMyAdmin. About a minute into it, I was lost.
Is there a simpler method?
I think my hoster, Godaddy (dang she’s hot) has it built in. And I am pretty technically minded, but havent used the tool before. Will I be over my head?

Update: when importing i am getting this error. My version of PHPMyAdmin does not have xls as a file version, which is a tad lame.
The only import option is SQL, and it offer SQL compatibility mode with thibngs like: ANSI, DB2, MSSQL. MAXDB, MYSQl323, mssq40, Traditonal, Oricle

Error
SQL query:

groupon_code groupon_holder MySQL said:
LS10637852
LS10636453
LS10639858

1064 – You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘groupon_code groupon_holder

‘ at line 1

If you do not have an up-to-date version of phpMyAdmin that supports uploading from xls (or csv) then you won’t be able to do it (unless you know SQL and want to write it all out by hand). I would ask GoDaddy to upgrade phpMyAdmin or — better yet — find a better webhost. Our requirements page states that there may be issues with GoDaddy servers as we have seen countless issues with sites hosted by GoDaddy.

Ok. I will look into switching. Any recommendation?
I am still a bit bothered that importing is not built into the app. I went old school and had a macro enter the 900 records for me. It took hours but it got done.

@sconklin I actually built a small addon, just today, that allows for batch uploading of attendees. I will look into building that into the Groupon addon as well. Maybe next week sometime.

Hello Seth I downloaded the voucher import works great but have a question about the groupon registration. I receive a csv file from groupon which has a purchase number like 1234-ox and the purchasers name. This is what I am uploading to the eventespresso the issue is I need to collect the 1234-5679 bar code number which the get on the voucher coupon from groupon. you see there are 2 numbers one at the top of the voucher i get from groupon the other is a validation number I need to collect the validation number also. Does the groupon plugin handle this if not how can this issue be resolved.

Groupon should be able to give you a single code to use. Have you talked to them about that?

I suppose we could add another field to the database. Or you can use the ticketing app and check them in with that. Because it tracks each attendee in the database and excel export.

Seth I figured out a way to deal with the secondary barcode entery for groupon. I need to know how and where to change the label DO you have a Groupon Code ? to Enter Groupon Number. I have created a field in the personal Name address area to enter the Groupon Barcode number which works for me.
