During testing we seemed to get the emails fine. Now we went live for the first time this weekend and several people have said they did not get any emails. Set up my own registration to test again and did not get the email. This is happening on both paid with CC and pending payment types. Verified email address by emailing from my own account. Worked fine. Tried to resend registration. Nothing came through. Been checking settings based on others reports of issues in past, but I don’t see anything yet to correct. I have a snapshot, but I don’t see how to attach it here. Says 63 messages sent. 0 failed & rest of the status say 0.

If you go to test an email from one of the email Message template editors, do you receive the test? If so, it may help to go to Event Espresso > Messages > Message Settings and set the the option for emails to be sent on the same request.

If not, can you verify whether *other* emails (like a WordPress password reset email) get sent from your site?

You can install this plugin to verify whether the mail actually gets sent or not:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-logging/

Since you looked at the Messages activity list table and it indicates the messages are getting sent, it’s important to find out whether the emails are actually not getting sent, or if they’re actually getting sent, but not received. If you find that they’re getting sent, can you check to see whether the emails are getting trapped in the spam folder?

In most cases, setting up a third party service to deliver email will resolve email delivery issues. The built-in mail servers (especially those that are used for shared hosting accounts) can be unreliable. We recommend using a service like Mandrill, Postmark, or any of the other services listed in our documentation for sending transactional email. More info here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/

Alternatively, you could also use a gmail account and configure a plugin like the WP Mail SMTP plugin to send the emails.

I ended up getting the email when I used my own email as a registration. I also was able to resend the registration to myself. I have tried to resend it to others and they do not appear to be getting it. They did check junk/spam. If I copy & paste their email and send one out of my personal email they get it fine. But I tried to resend both in the registration area and the message area. And they are not getting it. I made the change you noted above. I ended up adding my test subjects email in for the test area and they did not get that one either. Yet I get it if I put in my email. So strange since all our testing seem to work. I am not comfortable installing yet another plug in just yet (if I don’t have to). I am new to Word Press and we are already having to pay someone to look at fixing the issue with the time not showing up correctly. Is there anything else I can safely do to address/test this issue? We also paid to have security added to the site for the Vanco plug in, so my original estimate is not looking good. Thank you for your help. But I really want this to work, it has such great potential.

This doesn’t sound relevant to the email issue, but may I ask what’s the issue with the time not showing up correctly all about?

Since you mentioned you’re not familiar with WordPress, it may help to know that generally speaking, a hosting plan that has WordPress installed on it isn’t going to be reliable for sending emails too. That’s why there are so many transaction email services. The guide I mentioned earlier about transactional email services lists a number of free options, that offer free plugins.

The alternative is you can go the route of troubleshooting the built in mail server and work with the hosting company and possibly even the ISP’s involved to figure out why the email isn’t getting delivered, but it will be much more efficient and in the end more reliable to go with a transactional email service.

Wow – tried to post a reply last night and kept getting told I need to login. Even tried to open a new thread and told the same thing. Glad to see it working this morning. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks again for your reply. I sent your recommendation to our support person. It was weird that it worked fine earlier then stopped working.

Time issue – On our event, it shows “2:45 am – 10:30 am” as the event time when it should be “8:45 am – 4:30 pm”. I read many threads on the issue. I looked all over the site to see if I could figure out what other plug in may be causing the issue. It seems like the next step would be to have to turn off plug ins and turn them back on one at a time to see which one is causing the issue. I was inquiring with our support person to find out how WP works and if that could cause any issues with the live site. Didn’t feel comfortable turning them off without knowing exactly how they work. I wonder if it is with our theme one since it has the event calendar as part of the theme. But again didn’t want to start turning things off. So he is suppose to start looking into it tomorrow. I also saw solutions that has you editing the config file. Don’t want to touch that. ๐Ÿ™‚ Our support person look at it last night and narrowed it down to our theme causing the issue. It is Adore Church Theme. He said he would need to talk to the creator to get them to fix. Here is a sample of the posting/registration. https://www.vistachurch.net/events/priscilla-shirer-simulcast/ Thank you again for your assistance.

Yeah it’s probably the theme, and it should be a simple fix for the theme developer to make if they can read this first:
