Dear team, I’m facing this issue with processing registrations with Mailchimp. I have set up a list for news letter subscription, which users are added too in case they enter their mail address on our website. Next, I have a second Mailchimp list (with groups per year of operation) which keeps hold of all registrations including the event date. Based on this second list and a user being added to a group, an automation (series of mails) triggers in Mailchimp. I’m facing the issue that when a user already registered for the news letter prior to registering for an event through the Event espresso modules, the user’s e-mail address is already known in Mailchimp and it is not added to the second list with registrations. Hence, it is not added to the group of the 2017 operation and thus the automated series of mails won’t be send to this registrant. Is there a way to enforce that registrants are always added to the assigned Mailchimp list, even when they already are subscribed to another list? Best, |
Hi Luc, How are you today? First, as far as I’m aware, having an email address on one list should not affect adding it to another list. If that’s a restriction, then I think that would be imposed by MailChimp not Event Espresso, but I don’t think that’s the case. I think it’s more likely that your automation needs adjusted. Can you confirm that you don’t have ANY shared emails on both lists and that if there are subscribers on both lists that they were not sent the automation? MailChimp automation is powerful, but I’ve personally been on chat with them for a couple hours at a time trying to figure it out with them sometimes. Second, it is more cost effective to only use Groups in MailChimp, otherwise you’re going to be paying for having that same email address on your account twice. |

Dear Garth, Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I don’t completely grasp your suggestion. Hope this helps? Best, |
As far as I can tell, that is not a restriction of Event Espresso. What did MailChimp say about being able to add the same subscriber to those two lists? |
