We need to be able to process in person tickets with a chip reader or card swipe. Having to manually enter all Credit cards is way out of date. I may have to use a different event management software.
Event Espresso was designed as an online event management system with the intention to book and pay for registrations online. Whilst we’ve added some ‘admin’ functions to allow the event admin to add registrations but not a full fledge ‘box office’ setup as of yet.
So whilst you may consider card numbers outdated they are the main method used for the intended purpose of Event Espresso as a user paying for their own registrations won’t have access to a chip and pin machine.
It would likely be possible to integrate a chip and pin into one of the current Event Espresso payment methods (if the payment provider supported it), however, it is not something we have on our current development plan as we are focusing on recurring events at this time.
If a chip and pin/swipe payment machine is critical for your events you could look into getting a custom payment method developed to support it, WP Gateways have created multiple payment methods for EE4 and may have a good idea on how much development time this would take.
