I have a couple of clients looking to replace existing travel / booking reservations. One is for a bed and breakfast that has reservations by days during the week but minimum 2 nights for the weekends. They need a calendar based reservation with the ability to pay online, and also the ability to limit the number of reservations. They may also need other feature selections like “non smoking” “king queen or double” “Pet fees” etc. The second potential client has wants a reservation system similar to : travel tours. Basically the same features with different titles: available dates (blocked out when full), but with times during the day (click a yellow date and see times). Also displaying closed when full. The other booking is for transfers to and from the airport. Can/could EE handle either/both of these type of scenarios and if so, what kind of modification would be needed? Are there any ongoing fees to use EE? And if so, how much? And if not, how are the transactions handled? |
Hi Jeff, Thank you for considering Event Espresso, I’ll try to break this down as best I can. Essentially what you are describing is an appointment/reservation system, which is not something Event Espresso was designed for. It could work for both of the scenarios you are describing above, although not in the same way as shown and would take a considerable amount of admin management. Events can be categorized which can be used for the feature selection, you can assign multiple datetimes to an event and then create tickets for each of those datetimes for the attendee to choose from. However, each day would need to be a new event and the datetimes/tickets created for each of those (there is currently no recurring events manager within EE4, there is for EE3 but I would not recommend use EE3 for this) this is where the extra admin comes in. They would all need to be created manually, or a single event duplicated and the datetimes/tickets dates changed. I would recommend taking a look at our Event Espresso 4 Test Drive site so you can view EE4 in action and see exactly what I am referring to. Create an event as if it were a day available, then create the individual datetimes you wish for users to be registered onto then finally create the tickets the users will select from (each ticket would be assigned to a different datetime)
So yes Event Espresso ‘could’ handle those scenarios although it would likely be very involved and would need some custom development for some areas to fit your needs better (depends if the default output works for you) the date/time selection you linked to is very different from our calendar and would require significant development to work in a similar way.
You license gives you access to support and upgrades for 1 year, in order to update EE you need a license and there are no commission based based sales per ticket etc. The support license and your gateway processing fees (for example PayPals fees) are the only fees you pay. The gateways are you own accounts, all of the payments go straight to your own account, not ours 🙂 Please let me know if you have any further questions. |
