Is it possible to consolidate some of the emails registrants receive?

Hi everyone,

I’m gracious for the existence of this forum! I’ve already used it to find answers to several challenges I’ve come across with working with Event Espresso. Overall, I’m very happy with the product.

I’m in the registration testing phase for an event I’ve created, and we are really hoping to open registration to the public next week.

I’ve customized every one of the system messages, but some of the reasonable criticism I’ve received from my colleagues who have gone through testing the signup process (with a $1 test ticket) is that they are getting too many emails. I really hope someone here can provide me with some kind of solution to this. As it stands right now, a registrant is receiving the following emails:

1. Event registration details (from our email)
2. Payment confirmation email (from our email)
3. Ticket notice email (from our email)
4. Payment confirmation email (from Paypal email)

I think that 4 emails is a little too much but I’m really not sure where to start to lessen the emails that go out. I know the paypal email has to go out, but it would be nice if the registrants just received ONE email from us, with the event details, their payment details, and a link to download their ticket. The event tickets are important for our process though and it’s why we purchased and installed the add-on.

Really hoping someone can assist with this, I have no idea what to do!

Oh, and here’s my version info: I have EE4 and I think my wordpress site is 5.4.39

Hi Christina,

Yes you can combine the information from 1, 2, and 3 into the Payment email from your site. You can copy over the event info and ticket link into the Payment email, and disable the other messages.

Hi Josh,

So glad to hear that what I would like to do is possible!!
I’m pretty clear on what to do to combine all of the information from emails 1, 2, and 3. However, I’m not sure how to disable the message types that I don’t want to send out. Are email types disabled under the event settings, or the messages settings??

Thank you again for your help!

Messages are disabled within Event Espresso -> Messages.

You can either, edit the message template you want to disable and set to ‘To’ field to nothing – http://take.ms/9p9qD

Which is useful if you still want the admin to receive the registration approved message (which shows a new users has been approved on the event) but not the registrant. Be sure to check you are editing the correct context when using this method.

Or if you want to disable the message type completely you can go to the settings tab (in the same section) and move the message type to the inactive box – http://take.ms/ZbKpc

Does that help?

When your finished editing, double check that your recipient AND event admin receive the emails you are expecting.
