Hello again, EE!

I’m trying a new membership plugin as wishlist and ee were not quite compatible enough for what I needed to do. I’m now trying Membership from wpmu-dev.

They say that to do one of the things I need to do I must also use BuddyPress with Extended profiles …does anyone know that Buddypress is compatible with ee?

Many thanks for your time πŸ™‚

Hi Miranda,

EE is not formally compatible with Buddy Press though I believe some users use it. Not sure why you would be forced to use BuddyPress to use a membership plugin, checking the blurb from WPMU it says it is compatible with BuddyPress but doesn’t say it is a requirement. I think you should double check it.

Other noteworthy membership plugins: S2Member & Members by Justin Tadlock.

Thanks Dean – and hello πŸ™‚
The reason why they suggested buddypress is because I asked how to make the member registration page have a number of extra fields and they said I could do it using buddypress.

I will have a look at the other 2 memberships you suggest – do you know if they are definitely compatible with EE?

Hi Miranda,

It depends on how you define compatible. Members by Justin Tadlock doesn’t have any integration with Event Espresso, and if you’re using the Event Espresso roles and permissions add-ons it may not be the best choice since the two have overlapping features.

Sidney put together a bit of an S2 Member Integration together which allows for setting member level pricing. It’s available in the pre-release channel if you’d like to try it out.

Josh, thank you for the suggestion, which I acted on. I’ve uploaded it into plugins, activated it… but there is no link anywhere in the admin wp dashboard to go to set it up, that I can see??

You’ll need to make sure that you have the pre-release version of the WP User Integration (members add-on) installed which is currently version 1.9.8-b.

Then when you go to Event Espresso>Member Settings you’ll have two new options to work with:

Use S2 member level threshold?

S2 member threshold?

I think I’m going to give that a miss, Josh …particularly as it’s for a client’s site. I need something that is going to be tried and tested, trustworthy.

Is it safe to say though that if I bought S2Member, the pro version, that I could use all it’s customisations, etc. and it WILL be compatible with EE? (This will be the 3rd membership plugin that I’ve bought and it’s getting a bit expensive – and exhausting! πŸ™‚ …so I’d like to be as certain as possible that this one is going to go …beautifully, effortlessly and successfully! In your opinions, Will it?!

Many thanks for the benefit of all your experiences πŸ™‚

Hi Miranda,

I’m not familiar enough with S2 Member Pro to know how it differs from their free version and whether or not it will work according to your specifications.
