iPay88 Product Description in Notifications

We use Event Espresso for many events through the year and have several events at a time. Unfortunately, event espresso uses the site name in the product description in the iPay88 transaction so when our accounts team gets an email about a ticket being sold, they don’t know which event it is in relation to.

Is there a way to change the plugin to have the event name in the Product Description? I think I can fix it up myself (SQL call on the event transaction to get the event name) but I don’t want to hack it if there is a better option.

Regards,

Josh

Hi Tim,

There will be a way. For some reason the iPay88 gateway doesn’t use the standard method to put together a product description. We can change that in the next release to allow using a filter hook to change the product description, just like the other gateways can.

Thanks Josh.

Any idea of the time line for the next release?

Hi Tim,

Josh created a ticket for the above which is currently under review, as long as no other changes are required we’ll get an update on the iPay 88 payment method pushed later today.

Hi Tim,

Version 1.0.2.p of the iPay 88 payment method has now been released.

That version will default to use:

Event Registrations from {site name} for {first event name}

As the order description but is also filterable so can be changed if needed, we can provide an example of how you can do that if needed?

If you don’t see the update on your site go to Event Espresso -> General Settings and just hit save, EE will recheck if there are any updates available. Then update from the plugin menu and re-test.

Hi Tony,
I tried the save in General settings but the update did not show up. I assume it will eventually. Question though, what is “first event name”? Is it the name of the event being paid for?

Thanks

Has the update appeared on your site now?

Question though, what is “first event name”? Is it the name of the event being paid for?

If you use the Multi Event Registration add-on and add tickets for multiple events to your cart, the description would use the display the first event added to cart for the description.

If it’s a single event the user is registering for it will be that event’s title.

So its always at least one of the event titles the user is paying for, however adding all event titles for a mutli event registration to the description causes problems for some payment methods so we use the first for those.
