Incomplete Status Question

Hi, on one of our sites we have EE4 setup that only has only one event at the moment. The event is free and the default registration status is Approved. I had anticipated roughly 400 registrations and I’m pretty close that now, I have about 380 complete registrations and from what I can tell everyone has received their confirmations and tickets. At the same time though I have almost 900 incomplete registrations. The incomplete registrations all have just an * for the name and say ‘Failed’. I’m just trying to figure out what may have caused all these incomplete/failed registrations. See screenshot below, all the incomplete registration look like this first set.

Hi there,

EE generates registrations early on and then updates them as users step through the registration process, so you get ‘Incomplete’ registrations just by selecting a ticket and submitting the form.

Those registrations do not indicate there is a problem with your event(s).

They are most likely caused by bots submitting the ticket selector form on your site (when a bot finds a form, it submits it). Do you have reCAPTCHA enabled on the site currently?

If not I recommend enabling it and setting it on the Ticket Selector and Registration form (the options for this are in Event Espresso -> Registration form -> Reg form settings).

Ah I see, that would make sense, we are only showing a ticket selector and Reg button on a very popular page. Just to confirm there’s no harm in mass deleting the old incomplete registrations?

There shouldn’t be.

There is no contact info so users can’t resume an ‘incomplete’ registration. Just be sure not to delete any that may currently be in progress or you’ll break the current session for that user and they’ll need to restart.

Meaning don’t delete incomplete registrations that are within an hour.

EE should delete those after a little while anyway.
