Importing Events not Working properly

Essentially, I have 350 records that I want to add to the event DB. I’ve used your events.csv to a T, and believe I have it set up correctly. When I import it, it gives me a message saying 350 events have been added to the DB…. however they do not actually show up in the list of events or in the DB under wp_events_detail.

I’ve got the 1’s on the rows to be used and everything. What’s going on? Can you help? Hopefully it’s a minor issue! Thanks so much!

Hi Rodney,

Is it possible to get a screenshot of the message it gives you after importing?

Are there any none standard Latin characters (accented, etc) or single quote marks in the spreadsheet?

I eventually figured it out late last night. I don’t know why, but adding the records to the DB through phpmyadmin as an OpenSpreadsheet file worked just fine. It then took me a little while longer to realize that events were all showing as closed because I didn’t have both a start/end date and a starting/ending registration date. Either way.. back to work! If you’re interested, I’m working on integrating the JSON output of event espresso into something usable by MapBox. It’s my workaround for the fact that there’s no built in way for EE to map all my events at once.. which is a really strange thing not to have, with all that venue data. My .02….

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. When 4.0 hits and gets stable there will be more flexibility for people to extend Event Espresso. At the moment we are focusing on making the core and add on plugins better, rather than adding in extras, but I’ll make a mote of this on our feature request list.

In case you’re curious, I did get MapBox to plot all my events on a US Map. It looks awesome, and the JSON API made it all possible. If you’re interested, we might be willing to share the code.

Sure you can contact support @ event espresso . com with the details, and I can forward it onto the relevant person. I would include a link to an example if possible.
