I bought EE4 months ago and haven’t been able to figure out the upgrade. Is there a way to get support with this?

Hi,

May I ask, which of the steps listed here are you stuck on?

We had a custom site plugin in EE3
with changes to some of the language so that is not transferring.

I was also wondering if it still works to make the migration in a local environment?

I don’t see Event Espresso 3 lite in the plugin list.

“Then click on Add New and then search for Event Espresso 3 lite in the search field.”

Also, as I am deactivating EE3, do I also deactivate the other plugins related to EE3 like calendar, mailchimp integration, recurring events, and the custom plugin made by EE support?

Maybe it’s better to just delete all EE3 and start over?

Hi,

I’ll follow up with each of your questions/comments below:

We had a custom site plugin in EE3
with changes to some of the language so that is not transferring.

Some strings in EE3 match strings in EE4, but you’ll more than likely need to update that plugin as there will be some new different strings in EE4 you may want to change.

I was also wondering if it still works to make the migration in a local environment?

Yes it works to make the migration in a local environment, and we recommend to test on a local environment first.

Please note though, that if you do a migration in a local environment while registrations are taken on a live site, then if you copy the data from local to live you’ll lose some data in the process.

I don’t see Event Espresso 3 lite in the plugin list.

“Then click on Add New and then search for Event Espresso 3 lite in the search field.”

You do not need EE3 lite because your site has the latest version of EE3. In other words you can skip that step.

Also, as I am deactivating EE3, do I also deactivate the other plugins related to EE3 like calendar, mailchimp integration, recurring events, and the custom plugin made by EE support?

Yes. There are newer versions of the Calendar & MailChimp plugin that are compatible with EE4. You can download from your account page. EE4 currently does not have a Recurring events plugin.

Maybe it’s better to just delete all EE3 and start over?

That’s entirely up to you. If you don’t need/want your existing event & registration data to be accessible from EE4’s admin pages, then you can opt out of doing the migration. After you activate the EE4 plugin for the first time on your site, the option to not migrate will also be presented.

How do I create a support ticket? I need some help.

Hi Jeff,

This thread is a support ticket, we can help work through your issues here.

If you are asking for us to run the migration on your site for you, we can do that but require support token(s) to cover the time taken (support tokens are valid for 30 minutes each).

Before getting into that, may I ask for more specifics on what you need help with?
