What files would I copy over? I want to setup EE on another site – sort of a brother type site to the one I began with so I want the settings and much of the info to be the same…. What’s the easiest way to do this?
All of the settings are stored in the database. The easiest way to do this would be by using the WP Migrate DB Pro plugin. It will let copy tables over from one site to the other and it make sure that the site specific settings (like file paths and URL’s) get corrected migrated from site A to site B:
Hi Josh. Thanks for your reply. That is a great tool. However, I am not duplicating the sites, I only want to duplicate Event Espresso settings, etc. Is partial options doable with that plugin or can I just do it manually? If so, what files do I bring over from the database in Filezilla?
It will let you copy over specific tables, so in this case you could copy over the wp_options table. Databases work differently than files, they aren’t made up of files that can be copied over with Filezilla. When you migrate database settings from one site to another it’s running SQL statements that get run on the new database. If you really wanted to go through and option by option copy things over you could use something like phpMYadmin, but that would probably take longer than going in and changing the Event Espresso settings to the way you want them in the new site.
