Huge amount of emails last night to someone registering for an event

Last night a member received 119 emails when registering for an event! What is causing this? and how can I fix it ASAP?

Hi Nicholas,

Do you have any caching plugins installed on the site?

Does your host run server side caching?

Which hosting company are you using?

We have seen this once previously when the host had object caching enabled on the site, disabling that fixed it.
