Please let me know how to upgrade my Event Expresso from Version 4.6.28.p to Version 5.0.19.p. I want to keep all the data. Thanks.

Hi there,

When you update the Event Espresso plugin it won’t affect the existing content/data in the website.

You can follow the instructions here to update the plugin.
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-upgrade-event-espresso/#update-event-espresso-4

Also, make sure to make a database backup before updating the plugin.

Hope that helps.

I followed the instructions to update Event Expresso and now the website does not work anymore. The WP dashboard also not working. Please advise to resolve this major issue.

Hi there,

The site is currently throwing error 500, which means there is a fatal error happening but to fix it we need to know what the error is.

I can take a look into this but I’ll need all of the request details on this form:

Hi,

I upgraded php to 8.3 version. How can I activate Event Espresso 5.0.19.p?

Thanks,
Han

Hi there,

Your site is still running on PHP5.4.

Which host are you using? You may have the option to set specific sites to use specific PHP versions within your control panel, I’ll check if there is any documentation from your host on this if you let me know who you are using.

Hello Tony,
Thanks for info. I use Godaddy. I already upgraded the verser to php 8.3. Do you know how to “make” WordPress to use php 8.3. Thanks, Han.

That’s not how it works, WordPress itself can’t use another PHP version other than what your server is set to use.

Which type of hosting do you have with GoDaddy?

Their docs for this are here: https://uk.godaddy.com/help/update-php-to-the-latest-version-20198

If that doesn’t work you’ll need to contact their support and have them update the version of PHP in use on the server.

Hi,

Can you help to get Event Espresso version 4.6.28.p to work on my website? Godaddy could not get the new php version 8.3 working so it’s still running the old php version 5.6.40. I need to use Event Espresso to set up an event this week.

Hello

php version 5.6.40 is conflict with the current EE plugins. That php version is EOL long ago. https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php

Godaddy could not get the new php version 8.3 working

Do you mean they’ve tried to update to php 8.3 but they have fatal error on the site?

This will be the steps to do.
1. upgrade php version to 8.2
2. Upgrade WP
3. Upload and activate the new version of EE.

Since you haven’t updated those things for so long, expect you will experience a lot of conflict and fatal along the way.

you will be needing to use file manager or FTP while working on this plugin conflict inorder to deactivate the plugin.

we may do this, but it requires to purchase support token.

thanks

Hi Rio,

I’m in the process of setting up EE 5.0.19.p on a new website. It seems to work correctly. https://lajenda.com/events/how-to-avoid-3rd-molar-surgery-disasters-as-a-gp-by-dr-jared-williams/

I have the following requests:

1) Please change my EE support key from the old website: hadsdental.org/wp to my new website: lajenda.com

2) How do I set up Paypal as a payment method? I set up Paypal in the old EE but forgot how to do it. Please give me the steps.

Thanks.

Hi Han,

1. I’ve reset your license key. Please remove your license key from the General Settings page of Event Espresso and save the form blank without a license key. Then re-enter your license key again which should enable the new domain and/or one-click upgrades. Let me know if I can do anything else for you.

2. Can you please let us know which PayPal addon you are using exactly so that we can help you better with the exact process to set up the plugin?
You can check the addon under EE > Payment methods.

Hi Sam,

Thanks for your help. The license key now works on the new website.

For paypal setup, do you know which EE database table keeps the Paypal info? I want to get the Paypal info from the old EE database.

Thanks,
Han

Hello,

You cannot just grab data in the database and enter it manually, Paypal / stripes need to approve and sync it with your new domain. You have to manually enter it the Username and password on the pop-up so it will sync the connection.

thanks

Hi,

I tried to connect the EE to Paypal but it asks a lots of questions after logging into Paypal account with username and password. Because I’m setting this for a non-profit group so some of the questions are hard to answer like personal SSN. Is there a simpler way to connect to Paypal?

Thanks.

Connecting paypal to your store should be simple, unless paypal needs more thing from you.

What account type are you using? Is you account fully verified before connecting it? paypal may ask those things for verification and we don’t have control on it.

thanks

We have a business account with Paypal. The account has been active since 2016. Since this is a non-profit organization, it’s hard to collect some of the required info.

Hi Han,

EE does not require additional information at the time of connecting to Paypal. That is some configuration you can manage through your PayPal account itself.
So if you can get in touch with Paypal support they can help you better regarding the issue.

Hope that helps.
