How to set up a custom paypal button

Hi, Fellas, it’s me again. I’ve got the bit between my teeth and am rarin’ to go.

The PayPal IPN feature is working fine. But I created a custom button with a drop/down menu with my fees listed. Paypal gives the following instructions for replacing the default button with the custom button:

Paste the button code in your website editor:

The code must be pasted in the “code” view, where you can view and edit HTML.

In your website editor or admin page, open the page where you want to add your button.
Look for an option to view or edit HTML.
Find the section of the page where you want your button to appear.
Right-click and paste your button code into the HTML.
Save and publish the page. (The preview function in your editor may not display the button code correctly.)
Test the button to make sure it links to a PayPal payment page.

Where do I find the payment page to replace the button.

Thank you.

Hi Stephen, this isn’t going to work as you expect.

The button itself is static code so while it is possible to add it to your WordPress site, it will not update any information in Event Espresso.

If you are wanting to collect a specific payment amount (e.g. add-ons to an event registration cost), then you could create a new WordPress page and publish it. Then add that link to your event’s description.

Could you clarify what you are trying to do?

Got it. No problem.

One more problem has arisen. I could start a new thread or we can discuss it here. Oh, heck, discuss it here. I just created a new event: Waiting List. In the original event I selected Waiting List under Overflow Event. It shows up in the list just fine. But when I return to Event Overview the new Waiting List event doesn’t show up and I cannot locate it. In fact, in Event Overview it indicates that I only have 1 Event.

Wait, it gets worse. So I thought perhaps I had done something wrong, created Waiting List a second time. When I go into the original event under Overflow it now shows two Waiting lists (with the same name) but they still don’t show in Event Overflow. Where are they?

Hi Stephen,

The default view in the events overview screen shows ongoing/active events. Try toggling it to show all events (inactive and active).
