For invoice payments, the payment status is changed to Pending when the invoice is downloaded. Check payments are set to incomplete with the idea that you would need to manually change the payment status when they actually paid. There isn’t currently any way for a user to say “I’m going to pay by check”.
Actually, now that I look at it again, there is only 1 confirmation button on the checkout page for both “check” & “invoice” options. The link shown in this screenshot marks the transaction as pending.
There is no differentiation. For invoice payments, the status (and payment type) is changed when they download the invoice. For check, it is done manually by editing the payment information in the back-end when they pay. As I said, there isn’t a specific setting for people to click a button to say “I am paying by check”.
It should already be set since you have “Show as an option on the payment page” set to Yes. When they get to that part of the checkout, they have a link to download the invoice.
