How to Remove ALL Fields for Additional Attendees?

Hi there,

We are using the latest WP 3.5.1 and 3.1.32.2.P of EE, along with the Multi-Event Registration Add-on.  Brand new installation. Allow group reg: set to YES and additional attendee reg info: set to NO INFO REQUIRED.

This is for a live theater, where we’ll have 3 different ticket price options (Adult, Senior, Child).  ONE person will be making the purchase for a variety of tickets and should only have to put in their name/email/address/phone/etc. ONCE for the entire order of tickets.

However, if we select 4 adult tickets and then any number of tickets from another pricing option on the same event (say 2 child tickets), the system then duplicates the registration detail fields it’s asking for – and also wants first/last/email for the additional attendees in the different ticket price type.  We need to turn that off somehow – how do we do it? It makes no sense (and is very confusing) for us to ask multiple times.  No other live theater does that for a ticket purchase – you add the various options to a cart and one person purchases.

To recap: No matter what combination of price levels they choose, they should only have to fill out personal details ONCE for just ONE person. But we can’t figure how to make that work with the settings.

Thanks in advance for your help…

Chris 🙂

Hi Chris,

In order to get this type of functionality, you will need the Multiple Event Registration add-on. It will allow users to add the event to a cart, then choose how many tickets they want and only require one person’s information.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the fast response. Please re-read my original post though. 🙂 I said we DO have that add-on installed. That doesn’t fix the problem of it asking for first/last/email a second (or third time) when ONE individual is trying to make a purchase of different ticket levels.

If I need to provide more details or any other details to help, please let me know.

Still need some fix for this…

Thanks,

Chris 🙂

Hi Chris,

This is pretty much how the system currently works, it creates an attendee for every registration, so if you have the Multi Event Reg add on (MER) running and a person adds 2 events to the cart, then it will request their details twice on the basis that they are separate events.

There really isnt any way around that currently, though we have included a copy info button to make it somewhat easier for the user.

We have realised that this is not an ideal way to deal with registrations and in 4.0 and beyond we are looking to rectify this by completely changing the registration system back end, gone are individual attendees per event and in comes one attendee that has event registrations tied to them.

The long and short is that we are hoping that when the 4.0 compatible MER is released this will no longer be an issue.

MER will not be available initially when 4.0 is formally released, but we are working hard to get the popular add ons released as quickly as possible.

Hi Dean,

Thanks for the reply.  Sorry if I wasn’t clear before – this is happening for the SAME event though, too.  I thought MER was designed to help folks register for totally different events in the system.

In this instance, this is happening for the same event (just two different price levels for that one event — adult & child). So if they register as an adult and then throw in a few child tickets for the same night, it’s asking for separate personal info for the child tickets too.  How do we fix that?

I imagine since you’re such a popular plugin, other folks have contacted you about this and figured out some fix/workaround?

Thanks again,

Chris 🙂

PS – What’s the ETA for 4.0?

Hi Chris,

What Dean has stated also goes for different ticket types. A first name, last name, and an email address are required for different ticket types. There currently isn’t a way around this. Yes, we have have multiple requests for this to be fixed. But, since this is such a deeply integrated part of our plugin, we can’t change it in 3.1 currently. This is why we added the “Copy from” feature that you see on the front end, to speed up the process of filling out the forms. This is also why we are doing this change in 4.0, since 4.0 is a complete rewrite of the plugin.

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for the clarification.

When are you guys hoping to have 4.0 done?

Also, since the current implementation is definitely going to confuse our audience members and ticket purchasers…how can we change the language on the page a bit to add instructions and make it clear to them? So in the Youth ticket box (where it’s asking for the First/Last/Email again and has the copy dropdown), we could remove the “Attendee X” text and put a little text blurb in that second box with instructions.

Thanks,
Chris

Hmm well the best I can think of currently would be to use some CSS to hide the Attendee X

.additional-attendee-nmbr-h4 { display:none; }

And then add a description to the the Question groups and make sure it is displayed.

You may have to have the blurb after the name/email section as otherwise the blurb will display for the primary attendee too.

Descriptions can be added and set to display via the Question Group menu.

Here is a very rough example http://d.pr/i/xa2b

Dean,

We added the CSS code you gave above yet the Attendee X is still showing in all places on the attendee registration info page.

https://allsaintsyouthministry.org/theatre/?page_id=8&regevent_action=load_checkout_page

Looking in the “view source”, I can confirm the code is in there too. Are we missing something? Or is that not the correct code?

Also when are you hoping to launch v4.0 that would fix all of these issues?

Thanks,
Chris

And also…Question #3 – How do we move the blurb after the name/email section as you suggested?
