In setting up my payment options I notice that with the EE4 I was given LOTS of “payment gateways.” Do I HAVE to use one of these, and if so which is best? However, on the “Payment Method” page of the set up I see these choices that need to be updated and activated, along with bank info, paypal, etc..: authorize.net and mijireh. What are these? And do they replace the need for a different gateway??? I am so confused! I just need to be able to accept credit cards, checks, paypal, and Purchase Orders (and create invoices/receipts.) THANK you for any help you can offer.
If you need to be able to accept credit cards and PayPal, you’ll need to activate at least one payment gateway. A good option for PayPal is PayPal Express (which will also allow for paying by credit card). A great option for Credit cards is Stripe, which is added by installing an add-on. Mijireh isn’t the greatest option, but allows for using merchant accounts from a variety of providers.
Ok, so the options already shown on the “payment method” page of my EE4 set up (authorize.net and mijireh” for example) are not required for me to set up? That’s what I think you are saying. So, I should install the Stripe gateway, and I’m assuming instructions on how to do that are on that page somewhere, too…. Thanks!
They are not required, they’re the built-in options and it’s your choice which payment method you want to use.
There are instructions on how to get set up with the payment gateways in the links I put in above reply.
