How do you export events in EE4? Or import?

At some point a few months ago I was playing with EE3 and having trouble with event importing. I mentioned in a presales thread that it would be easier to set up an import if I could create an event like I wanted to see, then export that event and see what the CSV is supposed to look like…. And I could swear that the answer I got back was, “sure, you’ll be able to do that in EE4”. Well, at this point I’m trying to switch to EE4 to avoid other limitations, but I can’t seem to find an export button. There’s an import, of course, but I still don’t know what data is expected. I spent whole days figuring out the EE3 import process, and I’m freaking out that I’m going to have to repeat this.

Questions:

  • Is there an export feature after all? I hope to god there is, it would be a major time saver.
  • Otherwise: Do you have a sample CSV for training aspiring new importers?
  • And if that’s the case: I’ve seen people put a link to such a CSV right on the import page. I think this is very clever, and that you should consider doing it yourselves. I know how much time you guys spend helping folks figure out the import process, because I’ve combed the forums πŸ˜‰

Fingers crossed…..

Hi,

To export an event to CSV go to Event Espresso -> Events.

Hover over the event and click ‘Export’ – http://take.ms/DReWo

However, on doing this you’ll find this to me much more complicated than EE3.

Is it basically that you would like to duplicate an event, alter the dates to suit and publish?

No, I actually wanted to bulk import events. It seemed that crafting a large spreadsheet was less prone to errors. My fear with using forms is that it is so tedious and repetitive that it’s extremely hard to concentrate on, & hence error-prone.

OTOH, that new spreadsheet is very complex! And certainly not what I was expecting. So I guess we can live without import/export. πŸ˜›

Thanks.

Oh gee.

So the one thing that makes all the difference when manually creating dozens of events is the Copy/Duplicate button that lived at the top right corner of Event Detail page in EE3. Does that exist anywhere? Otherwise can you tell me (a) does a feature request exist, and (b) where is it in the queue?

Thanks.

Okay, so I found this on the EE4 FAQ.

Duplicating Events
This feature is currently in development and will be available when EE 4.3 is released (current ETA is August 2014).

This is great news. (Let me know if this has changed).

Thx!

This has not changed and will be included within 4.3

Unfortunately I can not give time-frames for releases but we are working as quickly as we can to get the next update out the door πŸ™‚

4.3.0 is released, and it has the duplicate event feature.
