Currently, when the registrants recieve an email, it shows Connect with us FB, Google, Twitter. How would I remove ones not in use. Also, how do I remove entirely? Thanks! |
Click on the social link. Then remove the link using link button on the toolbar. This will leave the text remaining. You can then remove the text and save changes to the message template: http://cl.ly/image/2t0n3b443B0H — |

I’m not clear on how I get to the editor of this template, edit it and then select this new template to be used. |
WordPress admin –> Event Espresso –> Messages. Find the Registration approved message type and click on the Registrant under the recipients: http://cl.ly/image/3E3B2i2X0s0J This will take you to the Registration approved message template for the registrant. Now click on one of the social links. Then remove the link using link button on the toolbar. This will leave the text remaining. You can then remove the text http://cl.ly/image/2t0n3b443B0H Be sure to save changes after making changes. – |

I have followed these instructions and have saved a new template (see link below) However this custom email is not being received. ALSO, if it matters, in the event, if shows an option to use Global Template or switch to Custom Template, but nothing happens when I click the “Switch to Custom Template” button. See link: |
|
Hi, The above instructions mean that you are editing the global template to be used across all events. Custom Templates can only be done on a per event basis. When you click the custom Message button in the event a javascript pop up should appear that enables you to edit the template. There should be no reason that editing the social networks cause the email to not be sent, and my test are confirming that the email goes out. It might be that if you have switched to a custom template in the event but not edited it there then it is sending the default (the custom IS the default until edited). |

Thanks, I did not say the the email was not received, I said the custom email was not received. The template editor is not so intuitive for me and it has a toggle between the recipient and admin instead of a separate list. I have attempted to update the global and custom, to no avail. I’ve really taken the steps in a way that I believe most average users would have, but have not been able to edit this emails to the recipient. So, if I want to globally remove the social links except FB, how would I do that? Please offer step by step, or if you have a video tutuorial, please send a video of how to do this. Otherwise, I welcome you to test in the staging site login I sent. Thanks again. |
Hi, There are two sets of social media links that are used in the registration approved message type. The first is in the main content area: http://cl.ly/image/2h3T1j3u002C The second is in the event list area: http://cl.ly/image/0Y0X0T2b0Q3F If you aren’t aware of both locations, then it may seem like your edits are not working. I can see that you removed a social media link from the event list area. You can do the same for the main content area: 1) Click on social media link One other note is that this will remove these social media links from only the registration approved message type for the registrant. There are other message types that use the social media links. You would need to edit those as well. — |

Can we do this step by step? Here is the Messages screenshot. Can you please tell me which of these to adjust? |

Just a suggestion though – I think it might be easier if you just had a configuration setting for people to toggle these on and off. |
Hi sakirose, Thank you for the feedback I’ve added some notes to a ticket we have for improving UI of the messages system.
This also comes with it own problems, for example if the user includes the social links within some form of table, which code do we remove/leave. Currently the Messages system is setup to try and allow the greatest amount of flexibility for all the different use’s our users find for messages although as mentioned we are working on improving the UI somewhat. Currently if you want to remove the social links from within all of the messages this will need to be done manually. You’ll need to edit all messages that are sent to the registrant (Primary or standard) – http://take.ms/lO9V4 All messages contain the social links at the bottom of the main content. The Registration Approved message also contains the social links so you’ll need to look within the event_list section and remove the code within the tags – http://take.ms/1HNxd Then within each of the other message types look within the Main Content section, switch the editor to TEXT mode, then find the Social links shortcodes within the code. You’ll want to remove the full table used for those links, like this – http://take.ms/fFhAp Does that help? |
