Hi I’m kinda new to all this!

I’m trying to use groupon codes to issue tickets for our event to non paying guests. Bands, Traders etc..Can i just make these up myself. Ive tried doing this and when i enter the code into the cart it doesn’t alter the price. Do i need to use special codes and if so where can i find them?or is something else not right?

Thanks
Luke

Hi Luke,

The Groupon codes should be applying a 100% discount making the ticket free. Did you set it up following this guide:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/social-coupons-add-on/

Thanks Lorenzo,
I missed the ollow groupon codes in the event editor! They are working fine now!
I’m nearly there.
Now, when a ticket is purchased they get confirmation of registration but the email with the link to a ticket goes to my admin email! I dont think this is a groupon thing as it was doing this when i was using sandbox to test ticket sales. I thought it was a feature of paypal sandbox but now im not sure.
Any thought would be much apprieciated

Hi Luke,

When a user registers onto any of your events both you and the attendee should receive a confirmation email.

If the email you are receiving contains a banner made up of:

<---------------------------------------------->
*EVENT NAME*
<---------------------------------------------->

Then that is the admin email and is expected to be sent to yourself. The attendee should receive their own (slightly different) confirmation email.

Ah. That is whats happening. How then do they access there ticket as there is no ticket in the email or attach’ or a link to a ticket.
Also, how do i get the email to be from Restfestival instead of WordPress?
Sorry lots of question but finding this very helpfull!!!

You’ll need to include the [ticket_link] shortcode within the default (or custom) email sent to the attendees/ Take a look here for a step by step guide:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/espresso-ticketing/

Also, how do i get the email to be from Restfestival instead of WordPress?

Most servers allow this option, but if you enable this an suddenly stop receiving emails you’ll need to use an alternative method.

Go to Event Espresso -> General Settings. Email Settings. Set ‘Use fancy email headers?’ to Yes and save the settings.

Your emails will then display your Organisation name (set within Organisation settings within the same screen) when receiving emails.

Ok. Think i need some sleep.
Sorted the ticket link but would still love to know how to make the email from ‘Restfestival’ as opposed to WordPress!

Another question for you.
I’m using the multi events cart plugin to allow the purchase of different ticket types to our event without having to check out one at a time. (As This is largley a family event)
As a result when i issue a one time code it can be used to purchase as many tickets as i have allowed. (In my case 10!)
So if i issue 6 codes for a band each of them could in theory print 10 tickets each?
Is there a way around this or do all 6 members have to be on one ticket?
Not ideal as they often arrive seperatly!
Thanks again

Luke

Hi Luke,

The Groupon promotion code is set to discount the tickets in the cart by 100%. Could you combine them in a single ticket?

I realise thats an option to fall back on but people arrive at different stages of the 4 day event. It just complicates things the box office side. I hoped online registration would eliminate any possibility of my inexperianced vollunteer’s being taken advantage of. As soon as we get into different lists in different places/systems there is a potential for human error. Where there is a potential for human error people will try to exploite that fact! Can the groupon plugin be adapted somehow or is there another more suitable plugin i could try?

Thanks again for all the info

Luke

Hi Luke,

At this point in time we don’t have a way to modify the Groupon / social voucher add-on. I’ll be sure note this as a suggestion and we will keep it in mind for future features and updates!
