How can i set “Please select” option in drop down question field in ee4?

Hi Melanie,
How are you today?
A couple things here:
– The answer options you provide will appear in the drop down, so you could technically provide that as an answer, but we generally don’t recommend that because it will lead to poor quality data.
– If you are having trouble with people completing a form question, you can set it to be required so they have to answer the question.
Can you describe why you want to use “Please Select” as an option in the forms?

Hi Melanie,
Event Espresso defaults to the first answer option. Is that causing a problem because we’re discussing adding a blank option or something like the phrase you mentioned to make it more clear that attendees need to choose an option.
Also, you could use radio buttons instead because they are not pre-selected.

I want to set please select option because when people completing form then if they miss that question then it gives default value but i want to give error please select option for that. and its required field too. so if they miss that question then it’s not display “This field is required” because there is default value set so.

That makes sense and I think this would be a helpful addition to Event Espresso 4. We currently have an enhancement ticket where we are discussing some options.
