How can I put a reg form on a sales page?

Hi – my client wants a customer to go to say, https://thinkandgrowgroup.com.au/financial-freedom-adelaide/#register – and at the bottom of the page have the reg form for the event, looking similar to the bloom form that is there now, so it’s just a one step checkout as well. I know I can have a reg button just open up the form for the event but not sure can put at the bottom of a page like this. Is it possible and how to style it similarly (border, etc.). Thanks,

You can put a ticket selector iframe (or embed code) there and it will show the ticket selector in an iframe. After they select a ticket a registration form will display there. That’s as close as Event Espresso can get to an embedded form.

Okay – thanks – that’s what I was thinking. Where is the easiest place to find that code? Thanks

The place where you find the code is you go to edit the event, then just below the title field you’ll see a button that says
“Embed Ticket Selector”. You’ll click on that button, then you select and copy the embed code.

great – just found it as well. Thanks!

hmm – put the code in but all I see is white and a “view details” button… What’s the issue?

Do you notice that if you go here:

https://thinkandgrowgroup.com.au/events/financial-freedom-adelaide-june-2017/

there’s no ticket selector there either?

If you go to edit the event is it set to display the ticket selector? If No that needs to be changed to Yes. Is there a URL set for Alternative Registration Page? If there is, you’ll need to remove the URL.

Raybehan123

That’s because I didn’t put i on that page. I put it on the page I sent you – that’s why you see the “view details” button on it. Yes, it’s set to display an dno, no alt reg page url set.

That’s not why, you actually do not place any additional code on the event page for a ticket selector to display there.

On closer look, the event has already passed. For any of these things to work correctly, you’ll need to link to a future event, with a ticket that’s still on sale. If you try to link to an event that’s already passed, you’ll see a view details button with nothing else.

Finally got it working – coudln’t edit the existing event so added a new one. I think the documentation for EE really needs a good overhaul – but I appreciate your time…

I think the documentation for EE really needs a good overhaul

May I ask do you have a specific suggestion about how and where the documentation can be clarified and/or improved?

It’s nearly impossible to figure out how this system works, what is needed to do what one wants, etc. I had to search the forums for hours and finally just submitted my own topic. I’ve written on the FB group but to no avail… If you just go to the EE site there is just very little documentation and instruction – like that to change the EE CSS you just add code to your own CSS, etc. It feels like, well install and here you go – it’s a very robust system but feels like no way to get a handle on how it works, what you can do and how to do it. The How To Guide is woefully lacking in these basic things one wants to do – customize the checkout page, make it a one step reg (which is really hard to figure out since you want to make everyone go through a 2 step process, unless they use the ticket selector, etc. Hours and hours to just make the form look nice and try and put it on a sales page where the answer is basically, you can’t… I could go on and on but I’ll spare you :).

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like you want specific documentation for how to customize the look and feel of registration forms and the functionality of Event Espresso. There is a how-to guide that shows how to get started with using Event Espresso. We do not make specific documentation for functions that aren’t supported (like a one step registration). If you want to customize the registration form there’s documentation here and here.

If you just go to the EE site there is just very little documentation and instruction – like that to change the EE CSS you just add code to your own CSS, etc.

Con you explain what you mean by this?

Hey – do you know of any EE conflicts with Avada theme? I know there are conflicts with Divi… Yes, the How to shows how to get started – but there is nothing that is documentation on all the thins EE can do – that’s the issue… I asked several times, in several places, where the EE CSS files are found – until someone said just add it to your child theme CSS – but there’s no doc saying that, showing things, etc. Just all in the forums… One other quick thing – I believe EE3 had one step reg – not sure why it was taken away but.. Thanks!

Event Espresso 3 did not have one step registration. Event Espresso 4 added the ability to select multiple tickets of multiple quantities, which was something Event Espresso 3 did not have.

Here’s an example of some Event Espresso documentation that explains where to add CSS:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/style-registration-checkout-buttons-using-css/

do you know of any EE conflicts with Avada theme?

I do not.

Okay – well I read that somewhere – in terms of having been able to put on a sales page, etc. Thanks for the article. Okay – and you do know about the conflicts with Divi, yes? Appreciate your help and prompt replies!

There’s a known issue with Divi and a solution posted in the documentation:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/known-third-party-plugin-theme-conflicts/#divi

If you use the Divi Booster plugin, also see:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/known-third-party-plugin-theme-conflicts/#divi-booster

Yes – I know of conflicts and divi booster already. Thanks for the links – that helps!

Hey – do you know if you can have the checkout/reg form page pop up on a page? I’ve been told it’s not mobile friendly and EE doesn’t have the capability but I’m double checking. Thanks.

Do you mean like in a modal window? If you mean have the form in a modal window, no Event Espresso’s registration checkout does not do that, and they’re correct about those not being mobile friendly.

Raybehan123

Not sure what a modal window is – I mean like a popup – for example: https://thecashflowacademy.com/3-videos-eg/3-videos-opt-in/ – you click on the button and the form pops up…

Last qs – when someone marks their event attendees as either attended or not is the process that we can then tag the attendee in IS? Also, when someone gets 3 tickets for an event can they register each person’s info in the checkout form? Seems no but that seems odd to me…

It seems that maybe EE just isn’t keeping up with the times and able to do things that clients need these days – maybe EventSmart is where the money is really going to keep current… Thoughts? Could be for all the robustness of EE it jsut doesn’t do teh simpler things my client needs…

Thanks,

Josh

Not sure what a modal window is

This answer will get you up to speed:
https://ux.stackexchange.com/a/90337

Last qs – when someone marks their event attendees as either attended or not is the process that we can then tag the attendee in IS?

This is possible with custom development. There’s a list of recommended developers here and they may be able to give you a quote:
https://eventespresso.com/developers/event-espresso-pros/

Also, when someone gets 3 tickets for an event can they register each person’s info in the checkout form? Seems no but that seems odd to me…

Yes they can and the documentation explains how:
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/questions/#how_to_set_questions_for_registants

It seems that maybe EE just isn’t keeping up with the times and able to do things that clients need these days – maybe EventSmart is where the money is really going to keep current… Thoughts? Could be for all the robustness of EE it jsut doesn’t do teh simpler things my client needs…

I don’t quite follow what you’re saying/asking.

Raybehan123

June 30, 2017 at 10:52 am

Okay on modal.

A quote to do what? Tell me how something with your integration with IS should work that you don’t know? Are you saying that when you mark someone as attended that it will not automatically, or can not be set up to automatically tag people in IS without custom programming? That’s a huge issue and makes very little sense to me… And no, multiple attendee reg is the answer to the last q.

Well EE seems old in it’s look, it’s not easy to use – needs tons of add ons, customization, etc. there is no real doc to address my very simple qs easily, etc. I’ve never had to ask so many qs and not be able to get answers myself in documenation…

The quote would be to add tagging, to your client’s specifications. There is example code in the Infusionsoft add-on documentation that shows how to add conditional tagging for contacts from the registration process, and it could be similar for tagging contacts for the check in process:
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/infusionsoft-integration/#ee4customizations

The Infusionsoft add-on for Event Espresso 4 wasn’t built to integrate with checkins. It was built to integrate with the registration process. I get this is important to you and your client, but the reality is Event Espresso 4’s Infusionsoft integration doesn’t integrate with the checkin process. So a quote from a developer would be for integrating Infusionsoft tagging with check ins.

And no, multiple attendee reg is the answer to the last q.

Did this documentation answer your question? If not, please explain why and I can explain further.

Wow – see this is why I (and everyone I talk to) thinks EE is behind the times – this is an essential feature to have – incredibly important to be able to tag people’s actions with regards to something like attended or didn’t – for obvious marketin reasons… So should we revert to EE3? I would think a newer version would do more and be greater but if not then…

Raybehan123

June 30, 2017 at 11:21 am

Is this tagging issue the same in Event Smart?

If you revert to EE3 you will not gain the feature you’re looking to add, and you’ll actually lose some of the features that are only in Event Espresso 4.

Event Smart is hosted Event Espresso 4, so you will not gain the feature there, and unlike a self-hosted site with Event Espresso 4, you cannot add your own 3rd party plugins. I’ve registered your feature request to the road map and you’re invited to comment there and vote for it:

K – well may have to find a different alternative – just to costly and complicated to take this basic shell and make it work for the way people do busienss these days. Up to my client but we’ll see… Thanks,
