I am attempting to import about 100 events and this is quite the daunting task, I was wondering if I could add the following fields to the already existing .csv template. Here are the fields i am interested in

  • Event is Reoccurring (and how to reference the parent/children of event)
    -Member Pricing
    -Event “Featured Image”
    -Event Category
    -Early Registration Discount Date
    -Early Registration Discount Amount
    -Early Registration Discount Percentage Boolean
    -Allow Discount Codes Boolean
    -Discount Code
-Discount Codes accepted (I will make sure the code name exists)

My client is riding me really hard to get all these events in, but I just cant fathom doing this via the wordpress interface. Please help ๐Ÿ™

Also the events that I have tried using the import example that you did give.. does not show any of the descriptions in the events (as well as sets the member price to 0.00 for all events)

My CSV is located here:

So it seems the descriptions of the events were properly imported, but to get them to appear I have to open the event then and click update.

Hey Alan, Thanks for letting us know about that. The weird thing is, if you have descriptions enabled in the event list they show up fine even without updating. I’ll get a developer to look into it.

EDIT: OK I found the issue, there is a column called display_desc which needs a y in it. Once thats in and imported, works like a charm.

Hey Dean,
Thanks for the quick response! I feel really silly for not catching that field. Whats the status about adding the other items to the importable .csv? I looked at the database table structure to see if the column heads were the same as the database fields, but it looks as if its not that simple ๐Ÿ™‚

Also if i re-upload the events.csv, it creates duplicates in the database. Its not a big deal now, but if I were to have people signed up for the event and need to make a change, how would i do a mass update.

Don’t feel silly, I was halfway through writing a ticket to the developers to fix it before I realised!

Currently not possible by default. The way it imports the information into the database means it is looking for specific data (the titles in the spreadsheet) and anything outside of those parameters is ignored.

It could be possible to extend that functionality by modifying the core file to accept more. We dont generally recommend core file edits though.

how would i do a mass update.

For recurring events: If you mean something like changing categories etc then you can simply edit an event in the series, and select one of the options here http://d.pr/i/6E0K
