Hey Guys,

I’ve had feedback on this before: https://eventespresso.com/topic/recommended-hosting/

I wen to change to Siteground today, but got surprised with my db size which is about 4.9GB, and the host plan I chose is only 750MB limit.

I have my messages set to only save last 3 months.

I don’t understand how SiteGround is so highly recommended, but seems like this is a big limitation.

Am I doing something wrong? Is that db massive?

So I opened a VPS account with Dreamhost. Hopefully that will be a viable option.

Thanks, Derek

Hi Derek,

Have you checked within your DB using phpMyAdmin or whatever you current host provides to see which table is using that space?

I have my messages set to only save last 3 months.

Messages are just one of many entities stored in the database. Essentially anything that ‘saves’, is saved to the databse.

Events, registrations, transactions, payments, messages, message templates, settings, the list goes on.

4.9GB can be considered large, but it’s not massive by any means and it depends on you use case.

Can you take a look in the DB and let me know which table(s) is using that much data?
